Biography
Lula Lunsford Huff became Muscogee County's Tax Commissioner in 1997. She is currently in her 7th term and held accountable for the annual accurate collection and disbursement of the revenue from all property and motor vehicle taxes in Columbus, Georgia.
She graduated with Honors at Spencer High School and went on to get her Bachelor's in Management at Howard University. She received her Master's in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting from Atlanta University. She also earned a CPA (Certified Public Accounting) designation.
Mrs. Huff began her professional career as an accountant, then moved to the position of Internal Auditor for CCG in 1976. She left to pursue a Senior Financial/Cost Analyst position at Pratt & Whitney, then was promoted to Plant Controller. In 1992, she returned to CCG as Plant Controller and Business Ethics and Compliance Officer. She then transitioned to Precision Components International Inc., where she became the CFO.
In 1997, Mrs. Huff returned back to CCG, where she became the first appointed African American to serve as Muscogee County's Tax Commissioner. She is currently in her seventh 4-year term, largely in recognition of her unparalleled achievements and dedication to the city's citizenry.
